Nutrition Counseling
Many people seek nutrition counseling for
help with weight loss, food allergies, skin conditions, acne, chemical
sensitivity, the management of diabetes or hypoglycemia, eating disorders and
dietary guidance for cancer treatment.
A nutrition counseling session can be helpful in identifying
the underlying conditions causing symptoms. For example, food allergy testing
may be warranted when you experience symptoms such as sinus headaches, abdominal
pain, bloating, diarrhea, and dark circles under the eyes.
Another example of the importance of lab testing is in the
case of heavy metals. The Comprehensive Toxic Elements urine test from Great
Smokies Diagnostic Laboratory is used to identify specific metals in the body
such as mercury, lead, arsenic, antimony, tin and nickel.
Heavy metals testing is important following the removal of
dental amalgams (silver fillings in your teeth), exposure to lead fishing
weights, the handling of mercury from a broken thermometer, long term exposure
to bullets (hunters, marksmen etc.) or those who have ingested large fish such
as swordfish, tuna, shark or eaten sushi on a regular basis.
Individual nutrition sessions are available in person or via
phone with Ms. Chace. Sessions last for 1 – 1.5 hours. To make an appointment,
